4-DAYS / 3-NIGHTS DUBROVNIK - MAMULA ISLAND MONTENEGRO - CAVTAT
Sep 28 – Sep 30 – Dubrovnik – Mamula Island Montenegro
After breakfast, sadly it’s time to say goodbye to our Captain and crew. It will be time to check by 9 am, a private driver will be waiting for us in port, and we’ll continue our journey to Konavle. First stop is Old town Dubrovnik – we’ll hike to Dubrovnik City Walls - the city walls are considered to be one of the most grandiose fortification monuments in Europe. The first fortifications were built already in the 8th century, but the most intense construction took place from the mid-15th to the end of the 16th century. The huge earthquake in 1667 did not do much damage. Later you can enjoy some free time in Old town, - it’s your last day in the most beautiful city in the world. Time for shopping and leisure before we continue our journey to Montenegro! Private boat will be waiting for us just across the border in a small village, short drive will get us to Mamula Island. Nestled at the entrance to Montenegro's Bay of Kotor, Mamula Island holds a fascinating and turbulent history that unfolds through the ages. Constructed in the mid-19th century as a strategic defense fortification, Mamula Fortress was named after Austro-Hungarian General Lazar Mamula, who played a pivotal role in its establishment. A special place on site belongs to the Historical and Memorial gallery, open to visitors throughout the year. This dedicated space commemorates the fort's 170-year history, spanning from its establishment through the challenging times and into the era of reconstruction. During World War II, Mamula Island witnessed a darker chapter when it served as a prison under Mussolini's Italian fascist regime. The historical documentation sourced from the State Archives of Montenegro, Trieste, Rome, and beyond sheds light on this period. The island witnessed countless stories of bravery, resistance, and survival. Prisoners from various backgrounds and nationalities endured unimaginable hardships within its stone walls. In contrast to common belief, no document was found proving that executions happened here. A solemn memorial plaque graces the entrance of the fortress, bearing witness to the events that unfolded on Mamula Island. It serves as a poignant reminder to future generations of the island's history, urging them to approach it with reverence and appreciate the sacrifices made for freedom. Located at the entrance of the Bay of Kotor, and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mamula Island is a carefully restored 19th-century fort in Montenegro. Encircled by sea and sky, with far-reaching views of crystal waters and wild scenery, the hotel has 32 rooms, a holistic spa, a beach, 3 pools, 3 restaurants, and 4 bars. Everything has been designed to give guests time to think, move, make, meet, soothe, share, and dance. All so they reconnect with what they love. Breakfast included every day, dinner on Sep 30th included. 2 Nights in Mamula Island Hotel 5*

Cavtat is situated on the southern end of the Konavle region, about 20km south of Dubrovnik. The town is known for its picturesque old town, which is located on a small peninsula and is surrounded by the sea on three sides. The old town is home to a number of historic buildings, including the 15th-century Rector's Palace and the Franciscan Monastery, which houses a collection of medieval art. It has a beautiful promenade that runs along the seafront, with views over the harbor and the nearby islands. Check into your hotel and enjoy some free time. Following a complete renovation, Hotel Supetar emerged in the summer of 2022 as a boutique, heritage property in the very heart of the historic center of Cavtat.
